The McAllen Convention Center is a multi-purpose convention center that is located in McAllen, TX, USA. It has a total area of 174,000 square feet and a capacity of 3,500 seats. Since its opening in 2007, it has been the venue for local sporting events as well as concerts. In the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), the Rio Grande Valley Silverados played there for one season in 2007-08 before moving on to become the Southeast Texas Mavericks. This arena formerly served as their home court.
The McAllen Convention Center plays host to not only conventions and meetings, but also the most significant events in the local community. The 18.5-acre complex plays host to more than 500 events every year and welcomes an annual attendance of around 400,000 people on average. The McAllen Convention Center was conceived as a multi-purpose event center that is able to accommodate a wide variety of gatherings, including board room meetings, concerts, and conventions. The Convention Center has emerged as a preferred location for hosting concerts and provides a setting that is ideal for wedding photos in the surrounding area. The McAllen Convention Center has a column-free exposition hall that is 60,000 square feet in size, a grand ballroom, two boardrooms, and up to 16 breakout rooms that can be used for meetings and events of a more intimate scale.
Since it first opened its doors in November 2016, the McAllen Performing Arts Center has swiftly established itself as South Texas’ most prestigious location for hosting a diverse range of nationally acclaimed performances in the performing arts, including music, dance, and theater. Since it first opened its doors, it has played host to more than 450 events of international caliber. It is the goal of the City of McAllen to enrich the artistic and cultural opportunities available in McAllen and throughout the Rio Grande Valley as a whole. Because of this commitment, the venue is able to provide the most technologically advanced performing arts complex south of San Antonio. Additionally, the venue is able to provide a wider choice of entertainment and live acts than has ever been feasible in South Texas previously.
